Over 300 000 Bulgarians diagnosed with drug addiction

On June 26th the world marks the International day against drug abuse and drug trafficking. According to data from the Bulgarian Methadone Assosiation and the Bulgarian Institute for Addictions there are over 300 000 drug addicts in Bulgaria. Almost 85% of all people using drugs are aged between 15 and 34. According to an international survey of drug, tobacco and alcohol abuse, Bulgaria is at the top rank in Europe regarding amphetamine abuse among students. Marihuana remains the most popular drug in this country, followed by stimulants such as amphetamines and ecstasy.
