The folk art schools from the towns of Kotel and Shiroka Luka had a concert a few days ago. The audience in Sliven applauded the colorful program of the young talents. The Paziteli na Balgarshtinata /Protectors of What’s Bulgarian/ Foundation initiated and organized the event.

“I had expected the concert with great excitement and we are happy with the success of our marvelous young performers. The hall was crowded, many spectators were standing and the applause was never ending,” says Mrs. Stoyanka Tenova,  headmaster of the Shiroka Luka school.

“That concert is a part of the promise, given by the representatives of the Paziteli na Balgarshtinata Foundation at the traditional Chieftain’s Meeting in the town of Zheravna last year”, Mrs. Tenova further explains. “The concert was sponsored entirely by the foundation that has opted for the mission to preserve whatever is Bulgarian in terms of tradition and culture. Our program covered the music of all folklore regions, as well as instruments and dances, typical for Kotel and Shiroka Luka. The money collected from the tickets’ sale has been granted to both schools for the purchase of new msuic instruments and costumes. “The organizers extended thanks o all the participants and said they would turn these concerts into a tradition,.

“Our students are preparing more concerts, despite the forthcoming end of the school year,” Mrs. Tenova says. “We invited everyone on May 2 in the school’s hall to a festive concert on the occasion of the Bulgarian folk dances profile’s 15th anniversary. We presented the latest work of the artistic formations. We are really happy with the fact that our former students joined the program – today they are successful performers at the best dancing formations from the Trakia, Pirin, Balgare and other ensembles. We were glad that the entire big family of the profile and the whole school gathered there.”
