Organum Light, Calm Light, Sun Triptych… The works written by composer Dobrinka Tabakova have titles reminiscent of brightness and beauty thus virtually lifting the imagination of listeners. But even when ignoring the verbal label this is indeed the impression that her music unmistakably leaves.
Dobrinka Tabakova has graduated from London's Royal Academy of Music Junior Department and Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Her majors are in piano, composition and conducting. She has defended a doctoral thesis in composition at King's College London.
Dobrinka won her first distinction at age 14 - the Jean-Frédéric Perrenoud Prize and medal at the 4th Vienna International Music Competition. This was only a few years after her family emigrated from Bulgaria. The peak of international recognition for the composer's talent came in 2014 when her album String Paths was nominated for the prestigious 2014 Grammy Award in the Best Classical Compendium category.
