Theodosii Spasov – UNESCO Artist for Peace
UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova proclaimed Bulgarian shepherd’s flute virtuoso an Artist for Peace. That happened on September 16 at a ceremony, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The organizers say it is recognition of “his talent and innovative approach in the creation of a unique music style and virtuoso renditions onstage.” Furthermore: “for his commitment to highlight music as a force to enhance dialogue among people, cultures and communities”. UNESCO’s artists for peace are internationally recognized persons who use their influence to popularize the organization’s messages.
First 24/7 bookstore in Bulgaria
Peroto /The Plume/ Club – that is the name of the first in Bulgaria bookstore that will work 24/7. It was unveiled on September 16 at the National Palace of Culture. 24-hour-long reading was envisaged for the opening part. The new literature space will gather authors, publishers, translators and readers. It is part of the overall strategy in support of culture. “You can read your favorite book there and then leave it, buy it, or make it a gift to someone. The Peroto bookstore will be constantly open for anyone, willing to touch good literature,” CEO of the NPC Miroslav Borshosh pointed out. The club will serve as both a bookstore and a reading room. Numerous different events have already been planned. All publishing houses have been invited to present their books there.
First for this season exhibition of students from the Ilia Petrov National Fine Art School
The Sofia Debut Gallery unveiled on September 15 the first for this season exposition with works of students from the Ilia Petrov National Fine Art School – from the Painting, Graphics and Illustration departments. The exhibition was a successful guest this summer of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Warsaw under the slogan This Is Who We Are.
