Head of Customs Agency – Vanyo Tanov dies this morning

The director of the Bulgarian Customs Agency, Vanyo Tanov passed away at the age of 58. In the period 1985-2007 Tanov was part of the system of the Ministry of the Interior up the ladder to becoming Major General. Vanyo Tanov has passed through training in Secret Service in Washington and in Holland. He has been working in international expert teams in the countries of the EU and Russia on issues related to terrorism and corruption. In 2005 he was appointed as director of the National Service for Fight against Organized Crime with the Interior Ministry but in July 2007 he resigned. In August 2009 Tanov was appointed to head the Customs Agency, while in July 2013 he was released from office. In August 2014, through a decree of the Minister of Finances Vanyo Tanov is again appointed to head the Customs Agency.
