There is no immediate danger to the Bulgarian waters or to the Bulgarian coastline. The oil spill is drifting to the Southeast of Kerch Bay and to the North of the Kerch strait, and there exists a serious danger of pollution of the Sea of Azov, said caretaker Minister of Environment and Water Petar Dimitrov as samples were taken of the sea water near Durankulak on the Black Sea.

The monitoring of the Black Sea region, assigned by him continues and is constant, but after the incident in the Kerch Strait it has been enhanced, Minister Dimitrov said further. Alongside Yavor Dimitrov, Director of the Black Sea Basin Directorate and Prof. Miroslav Tsvetkov, head of the science sector of the Naval Academy in Varna, experts took samples from the sea water. The results are expected within a week.
