The latest show of the Folklore Music Orchestra with the BNR is named Vocal – Instrumental Images. March 16 is the date and First Studio is the stage. This is perhaps the biggest artistic adventure that the virtuoso musicians will face along with their conductor Dimitar Hristov over the season. They will perform together with the Cosmic Voices of Bulgaria world famous choir conducted by Vania Moneva. The colorful picture is full now, with a chamber part of the BNR Symphonic Orchestra. Works of renown composers will sound, representatives of several generations: Stefan Mutafchiev, Krasimir Kyurkchyiski, Nikolay Kaufman, Milcho Vasilev etc. For a first time the famous Fire Chain Dance of Marin Goleminov will be performed in a folklore orchestra version. This is maybe the most popular melody from the Fire Dancer drama of the great Bulgarian composer. Dimitar Stanchev did the transcription.

We expect the premiere of several new works now. The Svatbena Pesen I Tanc /Wedding Song and Dance/ for choir and orchestra by Dimitar Trifonov will be heard for the  first time in the rendition of the original formation it was created for. Angel Dobrev has rearranged the famous Hei, Mari, Kalam Kalino, again for a choir and orchestra. Kostadin Genchev and Dimitar Hristov have composed plays for both folklore formations, classic instruments and folklore singer Evelina Spasova – a soloist.

Let’s recall that the concert comes as a part of the theme shows of the BNR Folklore Music Orchestra, including the Rhythm of Balkans, Classics of Bulgarian Wedding Music, Art of Concert Masters, Music Portraits series. Months ago the most prestigious Bulgarian folk orchestra received the BNR Sirak Skitnik award. The season is really successful for the Cosmic Voices of Bulgaria women’s choir and Vania Moneva. At the end of 2015, they returned with the first and only prize of the European Broadcasting Union’s International Choir Competition in the pop, jazz and gospel choirs category.
