Sofia is a favorite place for people looking for a job and therefore opening new jobs is of great importance, the mayor of the Bulgarian capital city, Yordanka Fandakova, said at a roundtable dedicated to the promotion and development of women’s entrepreneurship in Bulgaria. According to data by the National Statistical Institute, employment in the city stays high at levels of over 70 percent. Actually, people from all over the country are looking for jobs in Sofia and that is why authorities face challenges related to improving conditions. Unemployment in the Bulgarian capital city in March was 2.7 percent, according to data of the Employment Agency. The Sofia Municipality has a clear vision and priorities for the city's development and investments aimed at increasing its potentials. Some 1.54 billion euros have been invested in the city during the past few years and two thirds of that come from EU funds, the mayor added.
