Nine customs officers have been detained at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint with Turkey on suspicion of involvement in corruption schemes for smuggling migrants across the border.

The operation is being conducted by the Anti-corruption task force and examining magistrates from the Sofia City Prosecutors’ Office with the support of the Interior Ministry Internal Affairs department.
