NSSI expects 350 million euro in extra revenues next year

The deficit of the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) will decrease by 150 million euro in 2017 following the increase of pension security contributions by one percentage point and of retirement age and the work record needed for retirement by two months. The amount transferred by the state to cover the deficit of the pension security system will be 2.2 billion euro, down from 2.35 billion this year. The NSSI draft budget is based on a minimum monthly salary of 230 euro, 9.5 percent higher than this year’s. Minimum social security margins though will remain at this year’s levels because employers refused to negotiate on them with trade unions. As a result of this the social security budget projects 350 million euro more revenues from social security contributions, or the total of 2.8 billion euro.
