We live in times when regardless of education, race, or age we could achieve almost anything. The only condition, however, is to turn our backs on yesterday's misconceptions, prejudices, fears and worries. This is the principle, on which people from the Infinite Opportunities Association focus their ideas and work towards supporting young people seeking a better future. These are students and young people under 29 years of age who are yet to find their place in life. For every young person it is important to know whom to turn to in order to obtain reliable information or simply to speak on a subject that is important to him of her. For this purpose, the association organizes meetings with young people, urging them to be more active in the spheres that affect them directly.
Here's what an invitation for a discussion meeting reads: "Probably every day you see things are not OK - at school, in the neighborhood, on the bus, in the street which needs little to change for the better or to make people smile. And surely you have ideas and solutions, but they stay only in your head? Well, it is time to bring them to the surface and not only that! Join our training for youth entrepreneurship! "
This and many other similar trainings are part of the activities funded by the National Programme for Youth to support professional training and development. The activities are distributed among 36 youth information centers located in major cities in Bulgaria. Services promote opportunities for training, traveling, volunteer programs, internships and jobs at home and abroad. Through these young people can also understand how to prepare documents to apply for a job or how to choose the appropriate major at the university. Many have also sought the services of psychologists who cooperate with the association. Here is what Maria Alkalay, organizer of initiatives at the association told us:
"Some of our colleagues from the Infinite Opportunities Association and the Together organization have been working on the topic of tolerance. The language of hatred is very active on the web as people can say everything that they would not say in other cases. Young people are very active in searching of information and services online, such as chat with a psychologist. Some of them just want to say what worries them at the moment. The vast amount of information available on the Internet confuses them when choosing a profession. Many children have no true idea of what is really required in order to have a job. Often their perceptions differ from reality. We try to provide them not only consultations but also meetings with people who have been successful in their profession. One of them was a manager in a large software company with a degree of geologist. It is an example of how radically different education and profession can be.”
Infinite Opportunities Association say one should never stop the process of learning and personal development. "Studying cannot happen just with a book in hand but it happens in action and experience," Maria Alkalay says and adds:
"We have chosen to stay on the bright side. We are like the Jedi in the Star Wars saga and we believe in good deeds. We have been trying through training and consultations in information centers to show that good things happen. It is good that this country has started to develop programs with the participation of volunteers. The idea is volunteering to be a tool for gaining practical experience through working in a real environment."
