Brewers in Bulgaria register growth in sales

At their annual general meeting, the Union of Brewers in Bulgaria announced the sector had contributed appreciably to the national economy.

According to Customs Agency data, proceeds from excise duty levied on beer in 2016 amounted to 81.3 million Leva (around 42 million euro) which is 5 percent up on 2015. At the same time brewers have invested 43 million Leva (22 million euro) in modernization and building new production capacities.  According to National Statistical Institute data, the sector provides jobs to 2,400 people.
