German investments in Bulgaria have reached almost 3 billion euros and Germany has established itself as the leading investor in this country. This was what Bulgarian President Rumen Radev pointed out during a ceremony, at which he awarded German Ambassador to Bulgaria, Detlef Lingemann, with the "Stara Planina" Order First Degree.

The ambassador has received the highest Bulgarian state award for his outstanding merits for the development of Bulgarian-German relations. Thanks to Ambassador Lingemann Bulgaria has received important German support in key areas such as justice reform, security and control at the external borders of the European Union, as well as EU funds absorption, dual education system, etc.

Currently, there are nearly 5,000 German companies working in Bulgaria. A rise in bilateral trade has also been marked, President Radev added.
