The Summer Theater in Burgas played host to the Queen of Burgas 2017 beauty contest. The first place was grabbed by 17-year old Yovita Georgieva from the Tourism College. Every year in the last week of August, Bulgarians mark the beginning of mountain hiking tourism in this country. This is the time of year when we pay tribute to writer Aleko Konstantinov and the enthusiasts who joined him for the climbing of Cherni Vrah (Black Peak)–the highest peak of Vitosha Mountain. The first official march started from the building of Ivan Vazov National Theater in downtown Sofia to walk up to the peak on August 27, 1895. Photo: BTA

Unique metal electricity poles have been preserved in the town of Pernik, southwest Bulgaria. They date back to 1918 and had been used for electricity distribution. The poles are in the central part of the town and have become part of the local exterior and a curiosity for guests to the place. Photo: BTA

A street library called Rapana decorates the entrance of the Seaside Garden in the city of Varna. The idea of the library as a work of art is to provoke more people to turn to reading.
