On the second day of his visit to Bulgaria, Russia’s Prosecutor General Yury Chaika was received by PM Boyko Borissov at the Council of Ministers. The two discussed security and the fight against terrorism.

Laying emphasis on trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and Russia, PM Borissov pointed out that their further development would benefit both sides.

Yesterday, Russia’s prosecutor general signed a 2017-2019 cooperation programme with Bulgaria’s Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov on a round of issues connected with the fight against terrorism, radicalization and violent extremism.

Later on Yuri Chaika met with Minister of Justice Tsetska Tsacheva, who got him acquainted with the amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code and the debates on the anti-corruption law. The fight with terrorism and corruption were among the major topics of conversation of Russia’s prosecutor general with Vice President Iliyana Yotova. The latter underlined the need of better exchange of experience and coordination between Bulgaria and Russia in the fight with terrorism.
