Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov is on a working visit to Rome. Focus of his talks with Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni will be opportunities for deepening bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Italy, especially in the commercial and economic sphere, as well as cooperation within the EU.

Another issue of mutual interest is the European perspective of the Western Balkans. Italy has repeatedly stated that it supported Bulgaria's efforts to preserve the European perspective of the countries in the region.
