The Sofia Philharmonic will mark the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union with the cycle “The Music of Europe”.
In partnership with the National Academy of Music “Pancho Vladigerov”, 28 concerts will be given featuring the music of the 28 EU member states in the rendition of leading Bulgarian and European musicians.
Concerts will be held every Monday from 7 PM from January till June 2018 at “Bulgaria” Concert Complex in Sofia. The period coincides with the term of the Bulgarian EU Presidency.
The program includes masterpieces by both classical and contemporary composers. The first concert is on 2 January and presents Estonia from whom Bulgaria takes over the Presidency. Music will be played by the prominent Estonian composer and dissident Arvo Pärt in the rendition of Pavel Zlatarov (violin), Margarita Ilieva (piano), Ivo Alexandrov (cello) and with special guest Prof. Borislava Taneva.
