“Nuances in art” is a series dedicated to the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The program includes orchestras, bands and choirs working under the umbrella of municipal cultural institutions.
On 2 May a concert will be given by the Sofia Wind Orchestra with conductor Vasil Deliev and Sredets dance group led by Iva Tarneva and Nikolay Iliev. Most events are held in the Largo downtown Sofia.
More details – from Lilia Tosheva, Director of Sredets municipal cultural institute:
The cycle of shows and concerts is a new project of the Culture Directorate at the Municipality of Sofia and the municipal cultural institutions Sredets, Iskar, Krasno selo and Nadezhda. The emblematic dance groups part of Sredets municipal cultural institute have already presented a joint show, and the concerts have passed of Simfonieta orchestra with conductor Svilen Simeonov as well as a presentation of Cinderella of Igra (Game) theater studio and other events of cultural institutions. The project is active until end-June when the creative season closes.
The concerts and shows are held under the glass dome of the Sofia Largo near the archeological excavations – where the millennial history of the Bulgarian capital virtually gushes out. The atmosphere is incredible. There are representatives of different generations in the audience. Events are visited not only by Sofia residents but also by Bulgarian and foreign guests of the capital city. Our idea is to make the series permanent because it offers remarkable genre diversity and attracts the interest of the public.”
Dozens of music, dance, theatre and children’s groups develop under the umbrella of Sredets municipal cultural institute. On 7 May the dance groups from the cultural institute will take part in the "Europe dances" concert, part of the European Music Festival. A special program on the occasion of Europe Day entitled "The colors of Europe" is also in the making. Parallel to concert activity, work is underway for the preparation of the festival "Sofia creates" which has a competitive character. Sredets MCI organizes this forum between May 16th and May 19th. In it children and young people from all age groups will compete in different categories - dance and song folklore, ballet, classical and modern dance, etc. The gala is on May 19, in the renovated hall of the Sredets Cultural Center. On the same day is also the award-giving ceremony of the festival “Sofia creates”.
