Borissov and Zaev bow together at tomb of St. Cyril and visit Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov will be visiting Rome on May 24th and will meet the head of the Roman Catholic Church, His Holiness Pope Francis on May 25th.

The occasion is the celebration of the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture and Slavonic Scripture.

For the first time this year, the traditional pilgrimage to the tomb of St. Cyril and the visit to the Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica will be held jointly with a delegation of the Republic of Macedonia led by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev. The two delegations will also take part in the official celebration at the Bulgarian embassy in Italy on the occasion of the holiday.
