Trips of Bulgarian citizens abroad and of foreign nationals to Bulgaria up: NSI

The number of Bulgarian citizens travelling abroad in July 2018 increased 9.3% (to over 720,000) year on year, the National Statistical Institute announced. Greece, Turkey, Macedonia, Austria, Serbia, Romania and Italy were the most-preferred destinations for Bulgarian nationals. Meanwhile, a decrease in the number of travels of Bulgarian nationals to Ukraine, Portugal, Germany and Malta was registered. In July 2018 the number of foreign citizens travelling to Bulgaria increased with 6.5% as compared to the same month last year to over 2.1 million. The number of British, Czech and Belgian tourists in Bulgaria was highest. 61.3% of all foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria in July 2018 are citizens of EU member states. Their number increased with 4.9% as compared to the same month in 2017.
