The Bulgarian Women's Fund has organized a protest against the violence against women. Parallel protests are planned to take place in Varna, Paris, London and Canterbury. Organizers call for concrete steps to prevent violence against women. In their view, proposals for amendments to the Criminal Code adopted at first reading are a necessary but insufficient measure. According to the Fund, more than 1 million Bulgarian women become victims of harassment at home, which lasts for an average of 10 years. They recall that since the beginning of the year 29 women in this country were killed by their partner or close friend.
