The Union of Democratic Forces (SDS), which is the first democratic political formation after the fall of the communist regime in Bulgaria, marks its 29th anniversary today. The Union of Democratic Forces was established on December 7, 1989 by 10 political parties and organizations. The first Chairman of the party was Zhelyu Zhelev who later became the first democratic President of Bulgaria.
