On January 4 Bulgaria’s capital Sofia marks 141 years since its liberation from the Ottoman Rule with thanksgiving prayer in Saint Nedelya Church, flower and wreath-laying procession to the monuments of General Gurko and Tsar Osvoboditel and festive bell-ringing downtown Sofia. Bulgaria’s capital was liberated in 1878 without any violence and arsons. It happened due to the quick entry of Russian troops in the city.
