Bulgaria and France prepare project for Island of Arts near Sozopol

Bulgaria’s Minster of Culture Boil Banov and his French counterpart Franck Riester discussed in Paris bilateral cooperation in the field of culture and the preservation of cultural heritage. Ministers Banov and Riester discussed Bulgaria’s idea to turn the Saint Cyricus Island near Sozopol into a Global Art Center with the support of the Louvre Museum. Minister Banov reminded that the first archaeological research of the island was made back in 1994 by a French archaeologist and that French experts are currently working on Saint Cyricus Island. Ministers Banov and Riester discussed Bulgaria’s idea to hold Bulgarian Culture Season in France after 2024 which will include a series of cultural, educational, tourist and business events.
