The Bulgarian government has approved the draft protocol of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on the accession of the Republic of Macedonia to NATO, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports.

The Council of Ministers authorizes the permanent representative (ad interim) of Bulgaria to NATO to sign the accession protocol at the next meeting of NATO ambassadors.

The accession of the former Yugoslav republic to NATO was made possible after the ratification, by Skopje and Athens, of the Prespa Greece-Macedonia agreement.
