Friedrich Naumann Foundation: High corruption in Bulgaria is among biggest impediments to this country’s accession to Schengen

Corruption, freedom of media and the independence of the judicial system are Bulgaria’s biggest probles, the German liberal foundation Friedrich Naumann Stiftung ascertained in its annual report. Although Bulgaria has been part of the EU for over 10 years, independence of the judicial system is in stagnation, Friedrich Naumann foundation notes. Corruption in Bulgaria is among the biggest impediments to this country’s accession to the Schengen Area and the rapid economic development, the report also reads.
