Beloved Bulgarian composers and performers part of traditional "I Love Bulgarian Music" marathon

Celebrated solemnly throughout the country, the Day of Liberation of Bulgaria is also an occasion for celebrating Bulgarian national music culture. The traditional music marathon "I Love Bulgarian Music", organized by the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bulgaria Concert Hall, will be held once again on March 3rd. Throughout the day hundreds of musicians from different generations will be performing beloved Bulgarian works. In the program we see the names of famous chamber ensembles and orchestras, choirs and folklore bands ... The marathon will end with a concert conducted by Slavil Dimitrov. We have learned more from him about the 12-hour music marathon:

Bulgarian music will be performed on all stages in the Bulgaria Concert Hall. There will be many young musicians from the" Lubomir Pipkov" National Music School and the National Academy of Music "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov." Their marathon in the chamber "Bulgaria" hall starts at 10 am and ends shortly before the closing concert. At 12.30, performances in the big hall start. Philharmonica, which is the newest quartet in Bulgaria, will make its debut on the prestigious stage. We have a huge variety of genres throughout the day. Let us point out that the famous archaic polyphony folklore ensemble "Bistrishki Babi" will also be our guests. The Gusla male choir (founded in 1924) will open the marathon in the big hall. Academic choir “Angel Manolov” with conductor Darena Popova, “Nusha” choir with conductor Neli Andreeva, the Mixed Choir of BNR with conductor Lyubomira Alexandrova will also take part. Together with the National Philharmonic Choir “Svetoslav Obretenov” and “Vanya Moneva” choir we have prepared a joint program in which Bulgarian music is presented in three aspects - folklore, orthodox music and acapella songs, created by famous Bulgarian composers. Among them we have the names of Krassimir Kyurkchiyski, Filip Kutev, Alexander Tanev, Ivan Spasov, Georgi Andreev and others. The final is a concert of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, the “Svetoslav Obretenov” choir and the Children's Philharmonic Choir. I have the honor and privilege to conduct this program. After us, the icing on the cake will be placed by the Big Band of the Bulgarian National Radio, whose concert is traditionally the final one and starts at 21:30 in the big hall. We hope everyone will find a piece of their favorite Bulgarian music. And I am sure that people will discover new composers and works that will grab their attention.
