Taxi drivers come out into the streets of Sofia to protest against unfair competition

A multitude of cars drove through the streets of Sofia in protest against the administration’s failure to take action against the “grey sector”.

The protest is against one of the companies in the industry – Maxim – which the drivers are accusing of unfair competition. According to the protestors, the company has been carrying out unauthorized passenger transport via an online platform for around one year. That was when it was first reported to the Commission for Protection of Competition, the National Revenue Agency, the prosecutor’s office and the interior ministry.

Meanwhile Deputy Minister of Transport Angel Popov announced that the online platform would be taken down soon, as evidence had been obtained that it has been breaking the law.
