The "Prof. Ivan Mitev" Specialized Children's Hospital in Sofia is to receive 850,000 euros under the "Maternity and Child Health" program. This was announced by Minister of Healthcare Kiril Ananiev after a meeting between medics from the children's hospital and Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. Money will be used for treatment of children and raising the salaries of hospital workers. This decision came after protests by pediatricians demanding dropping the limits for child healthcare and decent remuneration for their work, as well as providing the hospital with a special 100% state hospital status that would allow for bigger support from the state for pediatric care.
