Plovdiv, European Capital of Culture, 2019 celebrates is successes

For more than 7 months Plovdiv has successfully been implementing the European Capital of Culture, 2019 programme.

On Sunday, Plovdiv celebrates five years since the city was chosen to be Bulgaria’s European capital of culture, and the festive spirit is in the air. Popular Bulgarian stars like Mihaela Fileva and Grafa will perform on the music stage near Maritsa River. Sports events, stunts, paragliding aerial acrobatics, hot air balloon rides are also on the agenda. In the evening a pyro music and light show “Picture of fire” will light up the sky over Maritsa with 23,000 pyrotechnic charges shot up into the air to a height of half a kilometer.
