Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova (of the GERB Party) officially announced her candidacy for a new term in office and participation in October's local elections. Fandakova announced that she would have three priorities if she won the election - active work in residential areas including small streets and inter-block spaces, as well as the construction of parking lots and transforming Sofia into a green and clean city through a green ring and eight new parks, as well as into a digital city.

Yordanka Fandakova has been Mayor of Sofia since 2009. In the past year she faced negative criticism because of numerous problems related to renovation and repair works downtown Sofia.
