Easter will be celebrated in Bulgaria amid security measures due to Covid-19 pandemic

The religious services on Easter will be held in front of the temples. I am calling on the Bulgarians to refrain from going to church in that moment. May only those who need the temple the most go to church on Easter, Premier Borissov said after a meeting with the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.

The Holy Fire will not be brought from Jerusalem, because the Church has kept it from last year's Easter. The money that had to be spent on the flight to Tel Aviv will be redirected towards the activities aimed to contain the Covid-19 epidemic. It also became clear that no willow twigs and flowers will be handed to the Christians on Palm Sunday.
