A festive liturgy for the so-called Second Resurrection of Jesus Christ was served today at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Nedelya in central Sofia by Metropolitan Anthony of Western and Central Europe.

The liturgy, traditionally, involved a reading from the Gospel in different languages - as a symbol of the unity of Orthodox Christians around the world. Metropolitan Anthony wished all Bulgarians "to carry the joy of Easter in their hearts and in their homes" and prayed to God to give them the strength to overcome the ordeal.
Not many laymen came to the festive liturgy because of the anti-epidemic measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The attendees followed the recommendations of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church to wear protective masks, not to bring flowers and to stay at a distance from each other.
