2 Bulgarian pop singers charged with unlawful acquisition of EU funds

Bulgaria's Prosecutor's Office has raised charges against pop singer LiLana, her brother beatboxer Alexander Deyanov aka SkilleR, and 3 other persons who have been detained for participating in an organized criminal group for illegally acquiring EU funds under the Innovation and Competitiveness Operational Programme.

The group has been operating since 2016. Several companies, mostly without real activity, have declared the purchase of the same software by a foreign legal entity. In reality, the software was acquired with money from the European programme by a Bulgarian company.
The authorities are now investigating whether LiLana, who is part of the management of the software company Teletol was acting as a "front" for the Bulgarian fugitive business tycoon Vasil Bozhkov who is the subject of a European arrest warrant and is currently hiding in Dubai.
