Bulgaria's Tourism Ministry offers late-season strategy

I do not want manipulations and suggestions that the state and the ministry are not doing anything, Bulgaria's Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova told the Bulgarian National Radio after tourism-sector organizations demanded her resignation.

The ministry has developed a strategy for a late summer season as of 1 July. Preparation will start from June 15.

"The internal market is important to us. It is most natural for Bulgarians to visit our Black Sea coast. We have an advertising campaign called "Rediscover Bulgaria", Angelkova said. The Ministry is considering different options, including tourism vouchers in Bulgaria, free umbrellas on the beach and placing sun beds at a bigger distance from each other.

Minister Angelkova expects that European Commission will direct 20% of all EU funds for post-crisis economic recovery to the tourism sector.
