The crisis will obliterate some jobs but will also create new jobs

“After Covid-19 there will be jobs that will probably disappear which will not to be restored,” said Adrian Nikolov from the Institute for Market Economics for the BNR.

The number of newly registered unemployed is 38,000, an increase of 16,000 compared to April 2019. The unemployment peak was registered in the 6-12 April period.

The biggest number of unemployed on the labour market come from the tourism, hotel and restaurant sector, culture and sports. A number of jobs – in trade, tourism, and transport – mat never be restored. But new opportunities are emerging, especially for people with university degrees and people capable of retraining quickly, Nikolov said.
