“In these difficult days, we must look for the common interests, rather than drawing dividing lines which are not in the European interest”, President Radev underlined today and added that “during the crisis it is important to look for what unites us, so that we can emerge stronger, united and responsible”. 

“Let us believe that Europe will emerge from today’s crisis stronger, wiser and more united”, the President of the Bulgarian National Assembly Tsveta Karayancheva noted in her Facebook profile. "We must now allow national selfishness to overshadow the European solidarity and self-closure to become a norm", National Assembly President Tsveta Karayancheva further wrote.

The number of Covid-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 1,921, data of the National Operational Headquarters by 5 pm on May 9 show. 10 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed today- in Pazardhik, Kyustendil and Vratsa districts. 389 people were admitted to hospitals, of whom 56 are in intensive-care units. 206 medics were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus, which is 11% of all Covid-19 cases. The average age of the people infected with Covid-19 is 48.6 years. The Covid-19 death toll rose to 90 people. 

Medics from the Sofia emergency medical service honored with applauses the memory of their colleague Dr. Neli Pandova, who became a victim of Covid-19. Citizens and colleagues laid flowers and wreaths in front of the Medical Emergency building. Dr. Pandova and Dr. Iliana Ivanova from Sliven are the two medics who died of Covid-19 in Bulgaria.

More than 156,000 employees of 10, 723 enterprises will keep their jobs thanks to the 60/40 wage support scheme, the Bulgarian Ministry of Labor and Social Policy announced. So far, the National Employment Agency has processed nearly 3,700 applications of Bulgarian employers for state aid which has to cover 60% of the salaries and the social security contributions of over 50,000 workers. The National Social Security Institute has paid EUR 6.4 million in compensations to more than 3,000 companies. 

Representatives of the municipal administration in Burgas, hoteliers and health institutions developed a common strategy for attracting tourists in the new tourist season, the municipal press center informs. Specific measures are to be applied during the operation of the tourist sites. The emphasis is laid on security. The hotels in Burgas want to maintain their reputation while guaranteeing that their tourist services do not put the health of their guests at risk. The measures will be implemented jointly with representatives of the Regional Health Inspectorate and the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency. Currently, talks are being held with a low-cost airline on the possibility to perform flights between Burgas and Vienna twice a week.

Lokomotiv Plovdiv scored a 3:0 win against Levski in a virtual game of the Bulgarian football cup tournament. The match was played via the FIFA 20 Ultimate Team platform with all funds raised going to aid in the fight against Covid-19. The teams consisted of current world football stars and legends of the past. They were coached by active footballers of Levski and Lokomitov Plovdiv. The return game will be held next Saturday and will be hosted by Levksi football club.
