Saharan dust will continue to blow over Bulgaria until 20 May

For the second day in a row Saharan dust has been covering vehicles and many parts of Sofia.

The unusual phenomenon has been observed for several days. Meteorologists say that the sand storm dust is carried from Africa across Southern Italy. There is Saharan dust in other Balkan countries as well. The phenomenon is expected to continue until Wednesday, 20 May.

The dust is not a health risk. If there is rain we shall see the dust as muddy rain, weather forecasters say, and add that the phenomenon is typical of springtime.
