55.7% of Bulgarians accept that the bigger social security contributions they pay, the higher their pension would be, according to a survey by the National Revenue Agency. However, 48% are insured at the minimum threshold.
People believe that most often citizens avoid paying rent taxes - 59.3% and VAT – 44 percent. When asked what the conscientious payment of taxes was sign of, 38% say morality, while for 29% it is fear of punishment. 57.3% believe that the more people pay their taxes conscientiously, the better the state will fulfill its duties.
When it comes to approval of the work of institutions, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church holds the first place with 52.8%. Next come the National Social Security Institute with 49.5% and the Revenue Agency with 48.9%.
