Anti-government protests in Bulgaria continue for 48th day

On the 48th day of anti-government protests in Sofia, 3 central intersections remain blocked. The protesters are threatening that if Prime Minister Boyko Borissov does not stop neglecting their demands, they will organize a big campaign in front of the Council of Ministers on September 2 and move to more drastic civil disobedience.

At a counter-protest in the capital near the National Palace of Culture, citizens dissatisfied with the road blockades, are collecting signatures for a petition that they will submit to the prosecutor's office. They say they will once again stand in front of the Romanian embassy in Sofia in the evening to prevent the blocking of a key traffic junction in the central part of the city. 
The parliamentary faction of the German Social Democrats announced today that it supported the protests in Bulgaria, which it considers pro-European and in defense of the rule of law, BNR reported.
