The 24th autumn international drama festival “Stage at a Crossroads” opens on 11 September and will go on until 21 September, 2020. The event is organized by the Ministry of Culture and Plovdiv municipality.
Expectedly, the programme of this year’s edition will be a modest one. The 10 festival days feature workshops, book presentations and readings, but no plays. The reason is, of course, the coronavirus pandemic and the safety measures that any indoor event entails. Still, the festival prorgamme includes two intriguing theatre workshops – “The laughter of the tear” with actress Silvia Lulcheva and “Words in action” with composer Assen Avramov.
“Stage at a crossroads, 2020” pays tribute to the father of the festival, renowned Bulgarian actor Stefan Danailov /1942-2019/. The culmination is on the last day of the event when Professor Danailov’s last class at the theatre academy will present “Applause for Stefan Danailov” on Orpheus open-air stage.
