Bulgarian tourism has missed revenues of 800,000 million euros

The coronavirus crisis has deprived Bulgarian tourism of 800 million euros, according to an analysis by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences on the challenges facing the sector at the backdrop of the pandemic, BTA reported.

Despite the measures taken, revenues from winter resorts cannot be expected to offset losses from summer resorts, especially given the fact that Austria does not plan closing its ski resorts, the analysis reports.

In case of a new wave of Covid-19 in December, analysts recommend that hotels should stay open, because the December holidays are the greatest opportunity to compensate for at least some of the losses. It is also recommended to improve the conditions for passenger air transport to Bulgaria.
