The European Parliament is expected to adopt the final text of the resolution on Bulgaria today. Before that, the debate on a total of 49 amendments to the text will continue, most of which soften criticism in the document.

MEP from the European People's Party Roberta Metsola wrote on Twitter that she withdrew her proposal, in which she claims that a famous oligarch, owner of casinos, tourism and construction business, against whom 18 charges have been filed, was financing the ongoing protests in the country. However, Metsola continues to insist that the document should include the cases of presidential advisers Plamen Uzunov and Iliya Milushev, accused of trading in influence and incitement to commit crimes in office.

She also proposes a text on lifting the monitoring under the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism, as well as another in which it should be pointed out that there is no requirement for transparency of media ownership online and gaps in the regulatory framework were often exploited by pro-Russian media, BNR correspondent in Brussels Angelina Piskova has reported.
