On European Day for Organ Donation and Transplantation seven towns in the country will light up emblematic places.
After 7 PM the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, the navy headquarters in Varna, the water fountain in Stefan Stambolov square in Plovdiv, the St. George the Victor chapel in Pleven, Tsarevets fortress in Veliko Turnovo and the town council buildings in Rousse and Bourgas will all be lit up in green – the colour of organ and tissue donation, the Health Ministry has announced.
This is a way to promote public debate and awareness of organ and tissue donation which saves human lives. In 2019 organs from 19 deceased donors were donated, in 2020 – from 4, Medical Supervision Agency data show.
