Bulgaria enters intensive phase of Covid-19 epidemic

The peak of the influenza epidemic in Bulgaria is expected in December and January which will further complicate the situation with Covid-19 pandemic, immunologist Academician Bogdan Petrunov pointed out in an interview for BNT. 

We can speak of herd immunity only when 70%-80% of the population has antibodies to Covid-19 and when the spread of coronavirus infection ends, Bogdan Petrunov pointed out. Bulgaria is entering the intensive phase of the second wave of Covid-19. We cannot rely on the herd immunity theory yet, because few people have developed antibodies to Covid-19,  Academician Bogdan Petrunov added.
