Bulgarian doctors critical of government over inconsistent anti-epidemic measures

In an official position, the Bulgarian Medical Association (BMA) calls for the closure of nightclubs and discos, as well as for holding without audience all sports events during which the required distance cannot be provided.

The union has criticized the authorities for favouring the interests of football fans, discos and nightclubs, while at the same time suspending planned admissions and planned operations in hospitals in areas with a morbidity of more than 120 people per 100,000 population. The BMA describes this measure as hasty and insists on consistency in anti-epidemic measures.
Some municipalities such as Sofia and Shumen have already taken local decisions to close nightclubs.
