Unions demand 40-60% wage growth for healthcare professionals

Bulgarian trade unions in the healthcare sector have submitted a draft Collective Labour Agreement to the Ministry of Health, insisting on a permanent increase in the salaries of healthcare professionals between 40 and 60 %.
The unions propose that the starting salary of a doctor without a specialty should become BGN 1,950 /EUR 997/ and the salary of nurses to be raised to BGN 1,300 (EUR 650).
The unions also state that they support the government's decision to give bonuses of 500 euros per month in compensation for front-line workers. However, it is noted that there is no clear definition of the term "front-line worker".
