The position towards the Republic of North Macedonia reflects what Bulgarian citizens expect: PM Borissov

“Bulgaria firmly supported the Republic of North Macedonia in its bid for membership of NATO,” said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov at a cabinet meeting.

“Bulgaria wanted most of all for our neighbours from the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as our friends from the Western Balkans to join the EU. Skopje did not show any commitment, believing that with pressure and lobbyism they can force Bulgaria to change its position,” Boyko Borissov added.

“Our position is not a position of stubbornness, the Bulgarian position is principled and reflects what all Bulgarian citizens expect. We are ready to continue the talks on the fulfillment of the Good Neighbour Agreement,” Boyko Botissov added, as quoted by the BTA.
