Minister of Health Angelov to be the first Bulgarian to get Covid-19 vaccine
Minister of Health Professor Kostadin Angelov confirmed that he will be the first Bulgarian to get Covid-19 vaccine, a reporter of Horizont channel informed. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines are accompanied by all the necessary information materials, Minister Angelov pointed out. Some of the first 9,750 doses that arrived on Saturday morning in Bulgaria have been already sent to Plovdiv and Burgas. About 4,500 doses of vaccines will be distributed to six different regions depending on the number of their residents, Minister Angelov explained. Tomorrow, inoculation will begin simultaneously in Sofia, Plovdiv and Burgas.
Number of Bulgarian medics willing to take Covid-19 vacines increases
45,000 Bulgarian medics have already voiced willingness to take Covid-19 vaccines, the Chairman of the National Vaccination Headquarters Dr. Krassimir Gigov announced. Dr. Gigov and Bulgaria’s Minister of Health Kostadin Angelov received the first delivery of the new Covid-19 vaccines in Bulgaria. The vaccines are to be distributed to the district cities. Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna districts are to receive 1,100 vaccines each and 450 vaccines will be distributed to Burgas district. People from other sectors such as the food industry, the Union of Bulgarian Artists, lawyers and notaries, have also sent requests to take Covid-19 vaccines.
Bulgaria reports 257 new cases of Covid-19
257 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Bulgaria in the past 24 hours out of 2072 tests (1060 PCR tests and 1,012 antigen tests) performed. 12.4% of the tests have returned positive. 153 PCR tests and 104 antigen tests have returned positive, data of the Single Information Portal show. A total of 5,580 patients are in hospital, including 512 in intensive care units. 1,186 patients have been discharged from Covid-19 units and 50 patients have died in the past 24 hours.
Electronic system to issue documents to vaccinated Bulgarians
The EU may request a vaccination certificate in the future. According to Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, vaccination certificates could be required within the European Union, just like the PCR tests. The current vaccination is a test of the way inoculation will be conducted next year, Premier Borissov said during an inspection at the Plovdiv Regional Health Inspectorate, broadcast live on a social network. This country’s Minister of Health Kostadin Angelov clarified that an electronic system will issue documents to vaccinated people if necessary.

Bulgaria’s cabinet allocates over EUR 41 million a month in support of the people working at the frontline against the coronavirus pandemic, this country’s Minister of Health Professor Kostadin Angelov announced. So far, the government has allocated a total of EUR 90 million for the purchase of Covid-19 vaccines. The cabinet is about to allocate an additional EUR 25 million, Minister Angelov said further.
