The mayor of the North Macedonian city of Štip, Dr. Sashko Nikolov, said he did not oppose optional study of Bulgarian language in local schools. He said this in the spirit of good neighborliness and good communication, speaking to the Bulgarian Ambassador to North Macedonia Angel Angelov, who visited the city, situated close to Bulgaria.

The two discussed the projects for cross-border cooperation, which have already been implemented and which are forthcoming, the website mms.mk writes.

Asked by North Macedonian reporters whether there was any hope of unblocking the talks between Sofia and Skopje, Ambassador Angelov said he was optimistic and that current emotions should calm down and a pragmatic dialogue should start.
